This proposition by Marion Le Torrivellec stems from work carried out during her corporate residency at Atelier Bouvier, held between May and October 2024. She developed a protocol in which each employee was invited to provide their first name, a common noun, as well as the title of a song and its performer. From this data emerged a meeting in which an object was created for each workshop worker. The collection of these artifacts resulted in a compilation, a kind of “plastic playlist” of a team at work over the course of a summer. This collaborative work engages with the artist’s reflections on constraints and freedoms in creation, the challenges of commissioned work, and the status of workers in the art and craft world.
In a second phase, Marion Le Torrivellec invited the graphic designers ROVO and Bureau Indépendant to produce an edition that archives and compiles this collection of objects. This edition will be presented during the exhibition of the objects at Glassbox Sud, 13 rue de Belfort, Montpellier. The opening will take place on Friday, October 17 from 6 PM, and the exhibition will be on view from October 17 to 31.
Marion Le Torrivellec is a graduate of ISDAT and the author of a thesis on human–animal relationships. Her practice is primarily rooted in sculpture and installation. She employs a variety of techniques and materials, including tow, sand, plaster, ceramics, direct wood carving, and even the hair of her horse. She is particularly interested in materiality and its force, exploring a register of forms in which shifts in scale from in situ installations to small objects affect our interpretive experience.
This project is supported financially and logistically by DRAC Occitanie, Échangeur 22, Mécènes du Sud, Air de Midi, and Glassbox Sud. The artist thanks Atelier Bouvier for their warm welcome and the production of the pieces.
