For the annual artist residency program l’Estive, Glassbox presents the work of Benoit Ménard. The artist is invited to transform the space into an open studio during the month of August. The result of his research work will be inaugurated on September 16th and visible until October 1st 2016.

Benoit Ménard’s practice mainly consists of installations. For the most part produced in situ, they question the durability of the works within an exhibition space thaumerism and more particularly that of a pop-up store with an ephemeral implantation. Between an artificial greenhouse and an extraterrestt is generally transformed – even haunted – by different simulacra. In the continuity of this work, Benoit Ménard directs his research here around the question of the scenography of consrial oasis, this notion of temporality will be emphasized by the use of moving materials evoking as much the instability of the world as the eternal cycle of time, toxicity or artificial psycho-activity.

Born in 1982, Benoit Ménard lives and works in Paris and is graduated from the Beaux-arts of Bordeaux. Since 2009, he has been a resident of Pollen Monflanquin, La Générale en Manufacture de Sèvres, the Cité des Arts and the Villa Belleville.
